Position Summary The Assembly Technician assembles components, subassemblies, and finished products and, as part of the repair process, disassembles them in accordance with Drafto's safety, quality, and production standards. This role requires close attention to work instructions, drawings, materials, and workmanship while supporting an organized, efficient, and team-oriented manufacturing operation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble parts, subassemblies, and finished products using approved hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and production equipment.
Review and follow work orders, bills of materials, standard operating procedures, diagrams, and engineering drawings.
Verify that the correct components and materials are available before beginning each assignment.
Inspect completed work for proper fit, function, appearance, and overall workmanship.
Use gauges and other basic measuring or inspection tools as required and as trained.
Weld components as necessary during the work process.
Identify and promptly report defects, missing materials, equipment concerns, and process deviations.
Complete production, quality, inventory, and traceability documentation accurately and on time.
Meet established safety, quality, delivery, and productivity expectations without compromising workmanship.
Keep the workstation, tools, and surrounding production area clean, organized, and safe.
Handle and move components and materials between assigned work areas using approved methods.
Participate in training, cross-training, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities.
Communicate and work effectively with supervisors, quality personnel, material handlers, maintenance staff, and other production employees.
Perform other related manufacturing duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, including safety and quality procedures.
Basic mechanical aptitude and welding skills. Have the ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic and accurately record production information.
Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality.
Reliable attendance, punctuality, and readiness to begin work at the scheduled start time.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a production team.
Commitment to safe work practices and respectful workplace conduct.
Provide your own tools with working knowledge and skill.
Previous experience in assembly, production, fabrication, or another manufacturing environment is a plus.
Experience reading blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or bills of materials.
Experience using measuring or inspection tools and documenting quality checks.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position. The work will involve standing or walking for extended periods; frequent use of the hands to handle, position, and assemble parts; bending, reaching, and repetitive motion; and lifting or moving materials within the limits established for the assigned work area. The position is based in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, moving equipment, dust, temperature changes, and required personal protective equipment. Facility-and assignment-specific requirements will be communicated by Drafto. Schedule and Reporting This position reports to the Plant Manager. The regular daylight shift is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Employees must maintain reliable attendance and be at their assigned workstation, prepared to begin work, by 6:00 a.m. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production needs and will be communicated in advance whenever practical.
