Summary:
The position supports the cabinet installation team by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Verifies dimensions or check the quality or fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications Produces or assembles components of cabinets Measure and mark dimension of parts on paper or lumber stock prior to cutting, flowing blueprints, to ensure a tight fit and quality product. Set up or operate machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders or shapers to cut, mold or shape Woodstock or wood substitutes Establish the specifications of cabinets to be constructed or repaired, or plan the methods of operation for shaping or assembling parts, based on blueprints, drawing, diagrams, or oral or written instruction Attach parts or subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws or clamps. Reinforce joints with nails or other fasteners to prepare articles for finishing. Install hardware, such as hinges, handles, catches, or drawer pulls using hand tools. Trim, sand or scrap surfaces or joints to prepare cabinets for finishing. Match materials for color, grain, or texture, giving attention to knots or other features of the wood. Cut timber to the right size, and shape and trim parts of joints to ensure a snug fit using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or word files. Perform final touch ups with sandpaper or steel wool. Bore holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machines. Repair or alter cabinetry or other pieces. Apply Masonite, Formica, or vinyl surfacing materials Loads trucks, manually or by forklift, with tools and materials needed for daily jobs. Packages items on truck in an effort to prevent damage. Drives a box truck to the location of some jobs. Keeps warehouse and workshop organized and free of obstacles. Checks plan design to identify any potential installation problems. Checks material list to ensure all material for job is ordered. Fabricates in-shop materials needed for customers or upcoming jobs. Interprets and understands detail involved in technical drawings. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintains company vehicles in good running condition and appearance. Assists in showroom remodeling work. Constructs displays for the Cabinet showroom and other divisions of the business. Assists in the maintenance of the showroom. Uses other mechanical skills, as needed, to complete jobs. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
