Job Title:
Plastic Fabricator Job Description This role involves cutting, fabricating, and assembling heavy plastic parts using a variety of saws, presses, and hand tools. You will work from specifications and blueprints to produce accurate components, perform mechanical and electrical-related assembly tasks, and support a fast-paced production environment. The position is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting of materials up to and above 55 pounds. Responsibilities Cut and fabricate heavy plastic parts using band saws, table saws, drill presses, and other production equipment. Use hot glue guns, hand tools, and pneumatic power tools to assemble and finish plastic components. Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, schematics, and instructions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Measure materials accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools to maintain precise dimensions. Perform mechanical assembly of plastic parts and related components according to production requirements. Assist with electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, including basic wiring and electrical assembly as needed. Operate production presses and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. Apply basic math skills to calculate measurements, dimensions, and quantities for cutting and assembly. Follow established production processes and contribute to a clear and organized workflow. Handle and lift materials weighing up to and above 55 pounds throughout the shift. Maintain a clean and orderly work area, supporting a safe and efficient production environment. Follow all safety procedures when using saws, power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery. Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and support other work areas when needed. Essential Skills Proven experience using band saws and table saws in a fabrication or similar environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions. High mechanical aptitude with strong hands-on problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience with plastic fabrication or similar light industrial work. Comfort with physical work and ability to lift up to and above 55 pounds regularly. Proficiency using drill presses, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to use a tape measure accurately and apply basic math to measurements and layout. Experience in assembly work, including mechanical assembly and production tasks. Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clear and defined job duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction or farming is a strong plus, demonstrating practical, hands-on experience. Experience with MIG welding and weld-related tasks in a light industrial setting. Familiarity with electrical assembly, basic wiring, and working around electrical components. Experience working with heat processes and plastic-related fabrication methods. Exposure to mechanical systems and mechanical assembly in a production environment. Comfort using a variety of hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools and presses. Ability to adapt quickly to different tasks within a structured production process. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a new, well-maintained facility that is approximately two years old. The environment is fast-paced, with production demands that require focus and efficiency. The facility can be hot in the summer and cooler in the winter, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. You will work with industrial equipment such as band saws, table saws, drill presses, presses, hand tools, pneumatic power tools, and other fabrication machinery. The workplace is very clean, highly organized, and process-driven, helping you follow clear workflows and understand your responsibilities. Bluetooth speakers are allowed on the floor, but headphones are not permitted to ensure safety and communication. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterloo, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
