Job Title:
Filter Winding Technician Job Description The Filter Winding Technician assembles and repairs flame filters and circular flame arrestors using mechanical assembly techniques and precision measuring tools. This role involves operating a winding machine to form thin metal into circular flame arrestors, reading schematics and blueprints, and performing basic building maintenance such as replacing filters. The technician ensures high-quality, accurate assemblies within a small, collaborative production team. Responsibilities Assemble flame filters and related components according to specifications and quality standards. Operate a winder to wind thin metal into circular flame arrestors with consistent accuracy. Read and interpret schematics and blueprints to perform assembly, adjustments, and repairs. Use hand tools and power tools to carry out mechanical assembly and repair tasks safely and efficiently. Perform basic building maintenance, including replacing filters and supporting general upkeep as needed. Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances. Assist with the assembly and repair of industrial pressure vacuum release valves and related equipment. Support pressure testing of valves and ensure each unit is assembled and configured correctly. Handle and move equipment and components safely, using lifting assistance when required. Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures and quality guidelines. Collaborate with a small team, communicate effectively, and help prioritize tasks in a multi-tasking environment. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of mechanical equipment and assemblies. Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for assembly and repair work. Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality in all tasks. Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Capability to use basic quality checks to ensure assemblies meet required standards. Ability to multi-task and manage several responsibilities in a production environment. Positive, team-oriented attitude suitable for working within a small group. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with valves is preferred but not required. Previous experience in mechanical assembly or industrial equipment assembly is beneficial. Familiarity with assembling or repairing industrial pressure vacuum release valves is a plus. Experience in a production or manufacturing setting is advantageous. Comfort using and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation. Willingness to support basic building maintenance tasks as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a production facility that assembles and repairs industrial pressure vacuum release valves and related components. The space is approximately several thousand square feet, with dedicated areas for assembly, repair, and testing. Equipment and components vary in weight, and lifting assistance is available and used when required. Each valve must be pressure tested and assembled to precise specifications, so the environment emphasizes accuracy, safety, and quality. Team members regularly use hand tools, power tools, winding equipment, and precision measuring instruments. Work is performed in a shop-floor setting where practical, comfortable work attire suitable for a hands-on industrial environment is appropriate. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ladson, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
