Job Title:
Furniture Assembler / Upholstery Builder Job Description This role focuses on assembling high-quality furniture for luxury pontoon boats using pre-sewn upholstery materials and sub-structure components. You follow clear written instructions, use a variety of hand tools, and ensure each furniture piece meets precise standards of fit, finish, and durability. Responsibilities Assemble furniture components for luxury pontoon boats according to written work instructions and production specifications. Use hand tools such as scissors, staplers, wrenches, and hammers to cut, fasten, and secure upholstery and structural materials. Work with sub-straight materials and pre-sewn upholstery pieces to build complete furniture assemblies. Inspect materials and finished assemblies for accuracy, quality, and proper alignment before moving them to the next stage. Follow established assembly sequences to complete one full furniture build per day, as typical volume requires. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and handled. Adhere to all safety guidelines while operating tools and handling materials in a manufacturing environment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals and resolve assembly issues. Follow detailed work instructions and documentation to ensure consistency and repeatability in the build process. Support general production and labor tasks as needed to keep workflow moving efficiently. Essential Skills Proven experience with assembly work, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Hands-on experience with furniture assembly or upholstery assembly. Ability to use hand tools including scissors, staplers, wrenches, and hammers safely and effectively. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written work instructions accurately. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with general labor and production tasks. Capability to stand, move, and work with tools throughout a full shift in a manufacturing setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in boat, furniture, or upholstery manufacturing is beneficial. Experience working with pre-sewn materials and sub-structure components is a plus. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with seasonal fluctuations in workload. Ability to work effectively as part of a small, growing team and adapt to process improvements. Work Environment This position is based in a boat manufacturing facility where furniture assemblies are built for luxury pontoon boats. Work takes place in a climate-controlled area, with typical volume of approximately one complete furniture build per day. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., operating on a four 10-hour day workweek, with Fridays generally off unless additional hours are needed. Peak production occurs from spring through fall, with slower activity in the winter months. You work with hand tools and upholstered materials in a structured, production-oriented environment, following established processes and safety practices throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sweetwater, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
