Job Description

Barrels of Fun Pinball is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building things. This is a hands-on position supporting our Mechanical Engineer. You will use SolidWorks and the equipment in our prototype shop to turn designs into working parts and assemblies for our pinball machines. We are interested in what you have built, both at work and on your own. Personal projects, hobbies, maker experience, automotive work, robotics, 3D printing, fabrication, and similar hands-on experience all count. You do not need to know every machine or process we use. The most important requirements are that you are comfortable with SolidWorks, enjoy learning, and are willing to work with the tools available in our factory. What You Will Do Build prototype parts and mechanical assemblies Use SolidWorks to model parts and create clean, dimensioned drawings Build assemblies from SolidWorks files, bills of materials, and exploded views Operate CNC fiber laser and press brake equipment Use Mastercam to prepare CNC work Use our plastic laser cutter, xTool MetalFab, and xTool P3 laser Produce parts using Bambu Lab 3D printers Use shop equipment including a hydraulic press brake, metal brake, drill press, vise, and hand tools Perform basic welding, laser cutting, sheet metal bending, and machine shop work Build and test mechanical devices and moving mechanisms Measure parts and check fits, clearances, and tolerances Troubleshoot prototypes that do not work correctly the first time Find practical ways to make parts using the equipment and materials available Help improve designs so they are easier to manufacture and assemble Use standard parts and materials whenever practical Take a CAD file and bill of materials and complete a build with limited oversight Keep project files, parts, tools, and work areas organized Required Qualifications Comfortable working in SolidWorks Able to model basic parts and create dimensioned drawings Genuinely enjoys building, repairing, or creating things Experience with shop tools or a strong desire to learn them Able to read mechanical drawings and understand measurements Good hands-on mechanical ability Able to work through problems and try another approach when something does not work Self-directed, dependable, and willing to ask questions when needed Able to learn new tools and processes quickly Helpful Experience You do not need experience in every area listed below. Experience in several of these areas would be helpful: Laser cutting Sheet metal bending CNC press brake operation CNC fiber laser operation Mastercam Welding 3D printing Basic machining Mechanical assembly Building fixtures or prototypes Fits, tolerances, and mechanical troubleshooting Designing parts for manufacturing and easy assembly Education A formal engineering degree is not required. Hands-on ability, SolidWorks skills, personal projects, and a willingness to learn are more important to us. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to safely operate shop equipment and hand tools Ability to safely handle sheet metal and fabricated parts Ability to lift and move materials used in a prototype shop When applying, please tell us about something you have built. Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 35.0 per week
