Job Description

Position Summary Fabricate, prepare parts and assemble cabinets and furniture per drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions. Essential Job Functions
  • Utilize various methods and molds to manufacture parts for yacht interior components, including cabinets, stairs and hand rails.
  • Install hardware such as drawer system hardware, latches, knobs and assembly fittings using adhesives and screws.
  • Assemble cabinets, furniture and other items as detailed in manufacturing drawings.
  • Adjust and/or modify doors, drawers, and other trim and hardware.
  • Use a variety of solvents to clean surfaces, tools, and equipment.
  • Work effectively as a part of a team providing high quality customer service.
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record following all company policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook and safety rules.
  • Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs. Requirements Production positions with Westport Yachts are classified as safety sensitive. To be considered for employment, candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Basic math, reading and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal, written and pictorial instructions.
  • Function as a part of an effective team.
  • Move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
  • Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, ladder and stair climbing and occasional crawling, twisting, and lying.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure down to 1/32. Other Preferred Skills/Abilities
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools.
  • Experience using stationary and handheld woodworking tools.
  • Blueprint reading.
Possible travel to work at other Westport facilities in Washington State. Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The work environment is in and/or near a production floor setting and is usually noisy and dusty. Noise levels are moderate to high with some chemical odors present. PPE is required where noted. Occasional work performed directly on a boat on land or on the water at dock.
Safety Requirements:
Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including and not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and or a respirator may need to be worn when handling hazardous products or working in hazardous environments. Maintain and participate in keeping personal work area, shop and tools clean and in proper working order to help ensure safe working environment. Hazardous materials are used in the production process. Employees must follow all safety guidelines and know evacuation procedures, the location of first aid stations and SDS locations in areas they work or visit on Company property.
