Job Overview:
As a truss builder, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling trusses according to blueprints, specifications, and engineering requirements. You will work as part of a team in a manufacturing environment to produce high-quality truss systems for use in construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to understand the design requirements. Measure, cut, and shape lumber or metal components to the required dimensions using hand tools, power saws, and other equipment. Assemble truss components, including chords, webs, and plates, using appropriate fasteners and adhesives. Operate machinery such as saws, nail guns, and presses to fabricate truss components efficiently and accurately. Ensure that trusses are built to meet quality standards and structural integrity requirements. Inspect completed trusses for defects, damage, or inaccuracies, and make necessary adjustments or repairs. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the proper storage of materials and tools. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and injuries. Collaborate with team members, including engineers, designers, and supervisors, to optimize truss construction processes. Follow production schedules and deadlines to ensure timely delivery of trusses to construction sites.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as a truss builder or similar role in construction or manufacturing. Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. Knowledge of carpentry techniques, including measuring, cutting, and assembly. Familiarity with hand and power tools used in carpentry and woodworking. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina and strength to lift and manipulate heavy materials and equipment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safety practices and regulations.
