•Truss Builder III

•is an advanced, hands-on production role responsible for leading the setup and assembly of structural roof and floor trusses. This position operates in a traditional, highly mechanical plant environment using standard pneumatic jigging tables, mechanized roller presses, and manual material handling equipment. Rather than managing fully automated or robotic systems, the Tier III Assembler relies on deep mechanical aptitude, manual precision, and blueprint expertise to build components to exact engineering specifications. As a senior member of the line, this individual independently handles complex truss profiles, acts as a primary setup specialist, and mentors' junior assemblers to maintain line safety and production pace. Key Responsibilities

•

Manual Setup & Jigging:

Interpret complex engineering blueprints to manually position physical pucks, stops, and steel flipping hardware on standard jigging tables.

•

Component Assembly:

Select, grade, and fit pre-cut lumber components into the established jig pattern, ensuring strict gap tolerances and flush joints.

•

Plate Placement:

Identify, size, and manually position metal connector plates on wood joints according to structural engineering specifications before final pressing.

•

Equipment Operation:

Run standard mechanical plant equipment safely, including pneumatic clamp lines, standalone gantry/roller presses, and powered stackers.

•

Line Leadership & Pacing:

Lead a manual assembly crew by communicating setup changes, coordinating material flow, and driving line efficiency to hit daily build targets.

•

Quality Assurance:

Perform physical inspections of finished trusses, utilizing tape measures and calipers to verify overall span, pitch, heel heights, and plate embedment depth.

•

Mentorship & Safety:

Train Tier I and Tier II Assemblers on proper manual lifting techniques, tool handling, and plant safety protocols. Qualifications & Skills

•

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of structural truss assembly or structural wood framing experience in a production environment.

•

Technical Literacy:

Advanced capability to read, interpret, and build directly from engineering schematics, multi-angle shop drawings, and digital schematics.

•

Tool Proficiency:

Mastery of pneumatic nail guns, industrial staple guns, tape measures, hammers, and specialized press machinery.

•

Mathematical Skill:

Strong basic math competency, including precise fractional measurements, geometric angles, and reading tape measures down to 1/16th of an inch.

•

Leadership Traits:

Proven ability to communicate work instructions clearly to an assembly team. Physical Requirements

Lifting Capacity:

Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry lumber or metal components weighing up to 50 lbs.

Stamina:

Capability to stand, walk, bend, lean, and reach continuously throughout an 8 to 9-hour shift on concrete flooring.
