Job Description

Company Overview:
We are committed to quality and customer satisfaction. Our wholesale manufacturing division helps ensure our all-natural, handcrafted pizzas and ingredients are available to a wide range of customers, including hotels and resorts, sports venues, theme parks, and our restaurants.
Position Summary:
The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations and overall performance of the commissary and production facility. This role is responsible for upholding high standards of product quality, improving production efficiency, and ensuring food safety and workplace safety. The Plant Manager leads warehouse and production managers, overseeing hiring, training, and staffing for a growing operation committed to excellence. The ideal candidate is a results-driven manufacturing leader with experience enforcing GMPs and PCQI requirements and a strong commitment to producing high-quality products in a safe, clean environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Supply Chain Management:
 Lead the warehouse and logistics team to optimize inventory levels, receiving, and fulfillment for reliability, safety, and efficiency.  Maintain the Approved Supplier List and ensure certificates of analysis, quality checks, and receiving records remain current.  Ensure manufacturer and secondary supplier orders are placed on time and in accordance with established agreements.  Assess supplier quality, availability, and cost to improve supply chain performance and meet product quality and volume requirements. 2.
Production Planning & Management:
 Partner with the Sales Manager to plan production based on forecasts and inventory levels.  Oversee all manufacturing activities, including dough preparation, dough management, baking, packing, storage, and inventory control.  Meet production schedules while achieving labor targets and maintaining high quality standards. 3.
Production Efficiency:
 Continuously improve processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and apply lean manufacturing principles that enhance productivity and consistency.  Monitor inventory levels and work with the Director of Purchasing and Warehouse Manager to maintain adequate raw material and packaging supply. 4.
Quality Assurance:
 Implement and oversee quality control measures that ensure consistent, high-quality pizza products.  Develop and enforce compliance with food safety standards and regulations, including FDA preventive controls, SQF, and
HACCP. 5.
Food Safety:
 Implement and maintain food safety programs that meet regulatory requirements and support Safe Quality Food systems throughout the facility.  Lead team training and compliance efforts, ensuring the tools and systems needed to support effective food safety practices are in place.  Conduct routine audits and guide inspectors through regulatory reviews by the FDA, Department of Agriculture, and other applicable agencies.  Drive corrective actions and process improvements that prevent repeat violations and support full compliance. 6.
Safety Compliance:
 Enforce safety protocols and standards to maintain a safe working environment.  Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed. 7.
Team Leadership:
 Recruit, train, and lead production staff and managers.  Build a collaborative work environment that supports teamwork, accountability, and employee growth. 8.
Budget Management:
 Manage the plant budget to control costs and optimize resource allocation.  Identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities. 9.
Reporting and Documentation:
 Maintain accurate records and reports related to production, inventory, and quality control.  Prepare performance reports for management review. 10.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
 Oversee maintenance and repair of production equipment, including mixers, sheeters, ovens, and related machinery.
Qualifications:
 Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.  Proven experience in manufacturing or production management, preferably in the food industry.  PCQI certification and strong knowledge of preventive controls, HACCP, FDA food safety regulations, and good manufacturing practices; SQF experience is a plus.  Strong leadership and team management skills.  Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Proficiency with manufacturing software and Microsoft Office applications.
