Job Description

Production Manager | Elkhart, IN Assembly Masters (A Subsidiary of Bay Motor Products) The Opportunity Are you a forward-thinking leader with a passion for optimizing production and scaling small, high-performance teams? Assembly Masters is looking for a Production Manager to lead our Elkhart, Indiana facility. As a key part of the Bay Motor Products family, you will manage a dedicated team of 15 specialists in the wire harness and light manufacturing space, supported by our corporate headquarters in Traverse City, MI.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership:
Direct daily operations to ensure on-time delivery and 100% manufacturing efficiency.
Strategic Scheduling:
Develop and monitor workflows that balance high-mix, low-volume production needs.
Team Development:
Foster a "safety-first" culture while coaching and upskilling production staff. Support hiring efforts by identifying and evaluating qualified candidates, and contribute to ongoing performance assessment and development.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and optimize production costs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with our Traverse City-based supply chain and engineering teams to resolve bottlenecks and improve plant performance. Recommended Qualifications Strong experience in production management (ideally in wire harness or electronics assembly). Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies. Proficiency in ERP systems (Job Boss, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics). Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or similar quality standards. A "hands-on" leadership style—you lead from the floor, not just the desk. Bonus Points Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt. Experience with Industry 4.0 or implementing shop-floor automation. PMP Certification.
