As a Manufacturing Coordinator at Kentwood Office Furniture, you will play a critical role in our manufacturing operations by processing orders for our plants and warehouse teams, including ordering raw materials, performing data analysis, and leading customer contact for respective projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates order processing for all manufacturing and warehouse teams. Processes orders and PO's to KOF internal and external suppliers with particular emphasis on materials and supplies needed for our manufacturing operations. Develops and implements effective order processing instructions (SOPs), policies, and procedures. Learns and maintains proficiency in all relevant company software systems. Helps develop performance metrics to correctly measure purchasing efficiency, success of vendor partners, material availability, and cost containment measures or changes. Constantly evaluates supplier performance to identify opportunities or potential limitations. Develops and maintains reporting structure to support purchasing decisions including costing measures, quantity price breaks, lead-times, and other terms and conditions. Immediately informs Product Marketing Manager and Manufacturing leadership of any changes to material availability, cost, or anticipated supplier performance. Helps identify and qualify new vendors, establish relevant accounts in order processing system, sets realistic expectations with vendor partners, and keeps manufacturing leadership team informed of any possible risks or roadblocks. Updates computer system(s) to include full details of products ordered, acknowledgements received, and anticipated receipt dates. Keeps respective project coordinators and manufacturing team leaders fully informed regarding status of their orders - copies them to all relevant reports. Participates in the ongoing integration of new business operating system software. Engage deeply with our new-process development initiatives and serve on the IDEAS team. Perform role of Project Coordinator for OEM customers including order entry, order acknowledgement, and customer contact for respective projects. Assist Product Marketing Manager with reporting related to cost, availability, and potential improvement of suppliers. Be a participating member of the company safety committee. Other duties as directed by management - Reports to Manufacturing Manager Preferred credentials and abilities: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Material Management, Supply Chain, or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred 2+ years of related experience in order processing, customer service, purchasing, supply chain management, or manufacturing preferred Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary for this position. Familiarity with
ERP / MRP
software would be beneficial. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Any previous office furniture knowledge and/or experience would be a plus.
