Plant Manager
- Hickory, NC ABB Inc.
This position reports to:
Operations Leader, Utility __ Your role and responsibilities: ABB is searching for a Plant Manager (internally titled as "Manufacturing Unit Manager") to support our Hickory, NC manufacturing facility and be able to continue the success of the team and continue to build our operation to be best in class. In this role, you will manage all aspects related to operations of a local manufacturing unit, including the full scope of Production, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Operational Excellence, and Logistics. With a direct reporting team of around 5 folks within the facility, there are approximately 60~ folks under the direct and indirect supervision of this role. This position will need to be able to work onsite in our Hickory, NC manufacturing facility (#LI-Onsite) and ABB would consider relocation assistance for the right candidate for the position. You will be mainly accountable for: Implementing the global business unit/product group manufacturing strategy in the country within their own area of responsibility; Providing input on global business unit/product group strategy. Developing proactive strategies to increase business profits, customer satisfaction, and operational effectiveness; Ensuring achievement of established targets by overseeing progress and defining improvement actions as needed. Focusing on achievement of operating cash flow, project on-time and on-cost, Requested On-Time Delivery (ROTD), and cost reduction; Implementing localization plan; Improving manufacturing technology and competence in line with business unit/product group strategy. Executing business unit/product group quality strategy; Driving quality improvement through target setting, monitoring, and benchmarking to continuously improve processes.Qualifications for the role:
Bachelor's Degree (Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, etc.) required, Masters/MBA nice to have. 7+ years of experience in manufacturing related roles; involved with either Operations, Manufacturing, Materials, and/or Production. Technically savvy and fluent and provide communication and value in technical discussions. Related industry experience a plus but not required (electrification, solar, energy, automotive, etc.). Possesses strong leadership skills at both a high level for general plant operations, as well as a strong mentoring/coaching background when it comes to developing and engaging with employees across the facility (from staff to shop floor). Fluency in English required Ability to maintain standard/minimal business travel (5-10%) Candidates must already possess work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
