PLANT MANAGER
Role Summary This position will manage and continuously improve all manufacturing and logistics processes at assigned plant. Continuously improving customer satisfaction through improvement of on-time delivery, reduction of customer complaints and consistency of product quality. Reduce the total delivered cost of goods through reduction of non-conforming products, increased process reliability and increased productivity. Manage, direct and implement operations strategies to ensure the achievement of Pilot Chemical's short- and long-term goals and policies. Support and foster business policies and objectives, while ensuring a positive work environment. Key Responsibilities Responsible for the morale and safety of personnel, including minimization of worker's compensation costs. Accountable for all regulatory compliance issues (i.e., EPA, OSHA, etc.) and the on-time delivery of products that meet or exceed customer's requirements. Serves as PQMR, per
ISO 9001
certified quality management system. Fiscal responsibility for payroll and operating expenses (Includes repairs and maintenance, production supplies and services and utilities). Responsible for asset management and raw material conversion efficiency Ensuring compliance with the Responsible Care Management System® including the establishment of policies and procedures, assigning responsibilities and tracking progress. Required Competencies Minimum of a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. At least 10 years of professional experience, this includes at least 3 years of management in a manufacturing environment. Proven "hands on" personnel management skills that include measuring, improving and rewarding subordinate performance and leading, instructing and training. This requires the physical ability to reach all work areas in the plant (i.e. climb ladders, walk catwalks, handle heights to 100 feet, etc.), to lift, twist and turn up to 50 lbs. (i.e. open and close large valves, inspect equipment, don emergency equipment, etc.) and to expeditiously lead plant emergency evacuations. Proven verbal and written communications skills. Successful record of progressive employee disciplinary actions. Team player with proven superior, subordinate, interdepartmental and peer relationship skills. Successful record of improvements achieved through analytical and personnel management skills. Demonstrated belief in continuous improvement. Proven planning, budgeting, accounting and cost management skills. Due to safety sensitive nature of job, must pass regular & routine chemical dependency testing. Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization. Mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance issues. Personal Computer skills with MS Word and Excel experience. Recommended Competencies Advanced course work in chemistry, engineering, business and/or accounting with chemical industry experience. Strong background in
SPC, SQC, ISO
9001, Total Quality Management, and/or other quality management techniques. Certification in supervisory training and/or internal/external auditing. Successful experience in large (over $1 million) capital project management. ERP system experience Join our growing team!
