Salaried About the Role We are a growing chemical company seeking an experienced and driven Plant Manager to lead the build-out, commissioning, start-up, and ongoing operations of our new Carlsbad, NM facility. This site will receive concentrate materials via ISO containers, blend and dilute products, and package finished goods for distribution to customers across the region. As a new facility, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape operations from the ground up while establishing a strong culture of safety, quality, and performance. This is a hands-on leadership position suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is equally comfortable on the plant floor and in operational planning. Position Overview The Plant Manager will play a critical role in bringing the facility online and transitioning it into stable, efficient operations. You will oversee all aspects of site performance—including safety, production, quality, and team leadership—while driving continuous improvement as the business scales. The ideal candidate combines strong operational expertise with a proactive leadership style and a passion for process chemistry, safety, and building high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities Start-Up & Commissioning Lead site commissioning and start-up activities, ensuring systems, processes, and personnel are prepared for safe and efficient operations Partner with engineering and leadership teams to establish standard operating procedures and workflows Support installation, testing, and optimization of equipment and blending processes Operations Leadership Oversee day-to-day plant operations, including blending, packaging, and shipping activities Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency Troubleshoot operational issues and drive timely resolution Safety & Compliance Champion a strong safety culture with a goal of zero incidents Ensure full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, environmental, and chemical handling standards) Conduct safety training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives Quality & Customer Focus Ensure all products meet established specifications and quality standards Oversee accurate documentation, labeling, and certifications for all shipments Partner with commercial teams to meet customer expectations and delivery timelines Team Development Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing operations team Foster accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement among staff Provide coaching and leadership to supervisors and operators Inventory & Supply Chain Maintain accurate inventory systems for raw materials and finished goods Ensure reliable material flow to support uninterrupted production and on-time delivery Continuous Improvement & Growth Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs Support capacity expansion, facility upgrades, and long-term operational planning Drive performance metrics and accountability across the site Cost Management Manage operating expenses and contribute to budget planning Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising safety or quality Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemical Processing, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered) 5+ years of experience in plant or operations management, preferably in chemical manufacturing, blending, or processing environments Experience with plant start-up, commissioning, or expansions strongly preferred Proven ability to lead teams and drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, and productivity Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills Experience in a high-growth or scaling environment is a plus Work Environment & Physical Requirements Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical processing operations Ability to work on the plant floor and perform physical tasks as needed Use of PPE, including respirators Ability to work in confined spaces and around pressurized systems What We're Looking For We are looking for a leader who takes pride in running a well-operated plant.
