Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Production Plant Manager to oversee the daily operations of a production facility. The Plant Manager will be responsible for supervising employees, maintaining production schedules, meeting quantity and quality standards, and ensuring that equipment and facilities remain safe, operational, and well maintained. The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on leader with managerial experience and a broad understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and welding work . This position requires someone who can effectively manage people while also being willing and able to work alongside employees when needed. Key Responsibilities Supervise and manage approximately 5-10 production employees. Plan, organize, and oversee daily production activities. Set daily and weekly production schedules and ensure production goals are met. Ensure products meet established quantity, quality, and production standards . Assign tasks and responsibilities to employees and keep workers productive throughout the workday. Monitor employee performance, attendance, safety, and adherence to company procedures. Operate production machinery and equipment as needed. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on machinery and equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems and coordinate or perform necessary repairs. Utilize welding skills for equipment repairs, modifications, and general maintenance. Troubleshoot and assist with electrical and plumbing issues throughout the facility. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production facility. Identify equipment, maintenance, and supply needs before they affect production. Order necessary parts, supplies, materials, and other items required for daily operations. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of production and maintenance supplies. Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules to minimize production downtime. Communicate production needs, equipment issues, and other concerns to management. Complete production reports and maintain accurate records as required. Train, direct, and assist employees in proper production procedures and equipment operation. Enforce company safety policies and ensure employees follow safe work practices. Work hands-on with employees and assist with production when necessary. Assist with other projects, facilities, departments, or company operations as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Required Qualifications Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong leadership and people-management skills. Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Welding experience and the ability to perform basic welding and fabrication work. Working knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of plumbing systems and repairs. Ability to operate and maintain production machinery and equipment. Ability to identify mechanical and equipment problems and determine appropriate solutions. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to plan work, set priorities, and manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to maintain production schedules and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Willingness to perform hands-on work and assist employees when needed. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and cooperate with other departments. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing, production, construction, concrete, or similar industrial environment. Experience with heavy equipment and production machinery. Experience with preventative maintenance programs. Experience ordering parts, materials, and production supplies. Experience managing inventory. Experience reading equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, or schematics. Physical Requirements This is a hands-on management position that requires the ability to work in a production environment. The successful candidate should be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, climb, and work in various positions around machinery and equipment. Lift and carry materials and tools as required. Work around heavy machinery, production equipment, and industrial environments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, welding, and production work when necessary. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who knows how to manage people and get things done . This individual should be comfortable spending time in the office managing schedules, ordering parts, and completing paperwork, while also being willing to get on the production floor and troubleshoot equipment, make repairs, assist employees, and help keep production moving. The Plant Manager must be able to recognize problems before they become production issues, keep employees productive, maintain high standards for quality and safety, and take ownership of the overall operation of the plant.
