A Brief Overview The QA Operations & Packaging Manager is responsible for developing and leading quality control strategies across manufacturing operations and packaging. This role oversees all floor quality and incoming component inspection activities, ensuring products consistently meet regulatory, customer, and internal quality standards. The Manager partners cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Regulatory teams to drive continuous improvement, resolve quality issues, and implement preventive strategies. This position provides leadership to the QA team, ensures audit readiness, and establishes quality systems that support operational efficiency and compliance. What you will do Develop and implement quality control strategies aligned with production schedules. Establish inspection plans for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. Lead, develop, and manage QA staff, ensuring proper training, cross-training, and performance management. Build team capability through coaching, development planning, and succession planning. Partner with Production and Scheduling to minimize downtime related to quality issues. Lead post-production reviews, identify trends, and implement improvements to enhance product quality and reduce waste. Establish and maintain SOPs and quality systems in compliance with GMP, GDP, FDA, and other regulatory requirements. Lead internal audits, support external audits, and serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries and investigations. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) during customer and regulatory audits Lead complex root cause investigations and drive CAPA effectiveness Monitor and manage quality-related budgets, including equipment and testing resources Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies Balance competing priorities and adjust resources based on business needs Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Science, Engineering, or related field (Preferred) or Advanced Degree or related discipline (Preferred) Experience Qualifications 7-9 years Quality assurance or quality control experience in high-volume manufacturing (personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or similar regulated industry) (Required) 4-6 years Leadership or people management experience (Required) Skills and Abilities Quality strategy development and KPI management (High proficiency) Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO, and regulatory compliance standards (High proficiency) Advanced problem-solving (root cause analysis, CAPA, Six Sigma tools) (High proficiency) Continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) (High proficiency) Data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) (High proficiency) Leadership, coaching, and team development (High proficiency) Cross-functional collaboration and influence (High proficiency) Project and program management (Medium proficiency) Change management and organizational leadership (Medium proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or similar ASQ or equivalent (Preferred) To Staffing and Recruiting Agencies:
