Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP's short-term incentive plan. The Area Process Manager (APM) is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the day-to-day operations in the Evaporator area, Turbine Generator, and Power Boiler. This includes activities relating to safety, environmental, water quality, waste, productivity, maintenance, and housekeeping. This position supports and assist in coordination of the planning efforts for area outages. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Be a visible and active safety leader. Manage aspects of the safety program. Provide general supervision for production and other related functions. Stay informed of issues in the plant and ensure effective resolution of identified issues and needs. Responsible to administer established policies and procedures and assist the APM in managing operating detail. Conduct or participate in area operations meetings to plan and regularly review workflow priorities and status of work in progress. Work with the operations team to manage daily plant operational issues. Work with OMC and maintenance to maintain equipment and processes at optimum performance. Maintain and improve housekeeping standards by utilizing established 5S procedures. Provide input and coordinate the development of production and maintenance scheduling. Work with Power department to manage hourly vacations and training. Participate in the development of capital and project spending plans and activities. Work with the team to run the area to a prescribed budget. Utilize Parkview, DCS and other plant control systems to troubleshoot and optimize plant processes. Work regular weekend call. Work outside normal hours to resolve issues related to safety, environmental, production and during outage periods.
Qualifications:
Ability to instill safety as a core value within the team. Interest and ability to be a quick study on mill equipment, systems and processes Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals. Approach positional responsibilities in an inclusive manner by engaging team members in the area. Strong statistical analysis skills Self-starter, team player, strong coach Technical education consisting of BS or higher in engineering, pulp and paper technology, or equivalent experience. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in pulp and power Demonstrated leadership skills combined with technical knowledge and operations experience in pulp and power manufacturing processes Excellent written, verbal, presentation and listening skills Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills Strong technical knowledge related to the pulp and power process Problem solving and analytical skills Ability to manage and/or lead projects and teams of people
