The Area Manager, Fabrication meets or exceeds all metrics (safety, quality, delivery, and cost) in manufacturing hydroelectric components within the process area. Floor time exceeding 50% providing management and coaching to drive results.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates planning with Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, and downstream functions by aligning load, capacity, and competency at a strategic level to achieve plant and department metrics (safety, quality, on-time delivery, and budget). Ensures proactive readiness (materials, manpower, tooling, and work instructions) so work can start immediately upon component arrival. Provides direction and supports supervisors while building department competencies. Accountable for the daily execution of the production system within area of responsibility. Balance strategic and tactical leadership at respective 70/30 split. Assures meeting or exceeding business metrics. Visible leadership and personal communication. Process Area continuous improvement and problem-solving leader. Aligns with other Area Managers and factory leaders around expectations and policy adherence. Holds people accountable to processes, policies, systems, and results. Performance management and employee development. Drives innovation in department to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related field) and/or 8 years relative experience.
Work experience:
3+ years in manufacturing management.
Physical Requirements:
The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
The vision requirements:
close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus. The employee may be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and perform other tasks related to an industrial environment. Small amount of travel may be required.
