Job Description

Job Title:
Production Manager Job Description The Production Manager leads and coordinates all manufacturing activities to ensure products are built correctly, on time, and within budget. This role oversees 3-5 Production Supervisors, partners closely with cross-functional teams, and ensures compliance with internal standards and customer-specific specifications. The Production Manager focuses on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement while developing the skills and performance of the production leadership team. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate daily manufacturing operations to meet production, quality, and cost objectives. Plan production activities and supervise shift supervisors to ensure efficient use of manpower, equipment, and materials. Work collaboratively with Safety, Quality, Facilities, People Operations, and Production teams to ensure smooth operation of the production area. Evaluate team performance regularly and adjust personnel assignments as needed to meet operational demands. Interview, hire, and place new employees into roles that best match their skills and experience. Coach and develop shop leadership team members, building their skills and leadership capabilities. Ensure all safety initiatives, policies, and programs are followed to maintain a safe workplace. Uphold and enforce quality standards, ensuring all products meet required specifications and customer requirements. Monitor production schedules and ensure all products ship on time, creating contingency plans when there is a risk of late shipments. Track production results against weekly and monthly goals and work with Superintendents to adjust manpower and resources to meet targets. Evaluate department efficiencies, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste. Maintain a clean and organized production area that is always ready for customer visits and audits. Monitor and manage production budgets, providing justifications for any deviations from planned expenditures. Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and process optimization. Be available to take calls 24/7 and come in during off hours as needed to address urgent production issues. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience supervising production teams and leading front-line supervisors. Strong background in production planning, scheduling, and coordinating manufacturing activities. Proven ability to monitor performance against weekly and monthly goals and adjust manpower and resources accordingly. Experience managing budgets and providing justification for deviations from budgeted plans. Knowledge of process improvement practices within a production environment. Ability to uphold and enforce safety initiatives, policies, and programs. Ability to maintain and enforce quality standards to meet internal and customer-specific specifications. Strong leadership and people management skills, including interviewing, hiring, placement, and performance evaluation. Ability to handle high-stress situations and make sound decisions under pressure. Willingness and ability to take calls 24/7 and respond to off-hours issues when necessary. Physical ability to wear required PPE in manufacturing areas. Ability to perform continuous standing, squatting, and bending throughout the workday in production areas. Ability to work at a desk for extended periods when performing planning, reporting, and administrative tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Lean manufacturing experience or exposure to continuous improvement methodologies. Lean Six Sigma certification or training is a plus, but not required. Experience working in environments such as coil or heat exchanger manufacturing, or similar industrial settings. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to develop and mentor supervisors and shop leadership. Comfort working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and production demands. Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is based in a manufacturing facility that produces coils and heat exchangers. The environment is relatively clean for this type of operation but can still have some dirt and typical industrial conditions. Temperatures vary with the seasons, with the facility being hot in the summer and cool in the winter. Team members wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in manufacturing areas and may spend time both on the production floor and at a desk for planning and administrative work. The dress code is business casual, complemented by appropriate PPE when working in production areas. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of York, PA. Vacation:
Two weeks to start although we prorate the first year if you start midyear. Vacation goes up 1 day per year thru 10 years and then jumps 3 days at 15 years and 2 more days at 20 years
Wage:
80-90K to start plus profit sharing and ESOP which roughly equates to 105-120K total compensation but please be clear on the base as the rest is based on company performance Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in York,PA.
