Job Description
The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Surface Water Plant Manager in the Utilities Department. Why Should You Join Our Team? We pay our Surface Water Plant Manager a starting salary of $87,485 - $100,607 depending on your qualifications and experience. As a Surface Water Plant Manager, you will: Be responsible for operations, repair and maintenance of the City's SWTP Be responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding and managing assigned City staff's training and professional development. Assign work priorities and standards for City staff and contractors to best accomplish repair and preventive maintenance programs within designated service levels. Ensure division compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements and procedures. Ensure compliance with industry standard safety requirements Assist in the preparations of the annual surface water treatment operations and maintenance budget by providing needed data and expertise for achieving key performance indicators. Manage the division operations and maintenance budget during the current fiscal year in compliance with City's policies and procedures. Develop, manage and renew surface water treatment service and supply contracts. Track progress to ensure contract compliance. Review and approve contract invoices, compare expenditures to available budget, and resolve issues. Responsible for operations, preventative maintenance, and repairs of assigned vehicles, heavy equipment and other assigned rolling stock in collaboration with Fleet Services. Responsible for inventory control for all surface water division parts, tools and equipment, to include computers, tablets, phones, software, security devices, and other related itemsFormal Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field, from an accredited school or university, is preferred. High school Diploma or GED is required. More than 5 years of direct supervisory experience in surface water production operations may substitute for a degree.Relatable Work Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of progressive supervisory experience related to surface water treatment facility operations is required. Municipal experience is a plus Training (License and/or Certification): Current TCEQ Class A Water Operator license is required Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License is required The citizens of Sugar Land depend on City employees before, during and after an emergency or disaster to provide or restore essential public services for the health, safety and quality of life for our community.
