Position Overview:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production floor at our ingredient manufacturing facility. This individual ensures that production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and food safety standards. The Production Manager will lead and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and support staff while collaborating with cross-functional departments to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and manage production operations to meet customer demand, quality standards, and productivity targets. Oversee daily production activities including scheduling, staffing, and troubleshooting issues that impact throughput and efficiency. Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, sanitation, and safety standards (including GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, etc.). Supervise and develop production leads and operators through coaching, training, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with maintenance, quality, R&D, and supply chain teams to support plant goals and resolve production bottlenecks. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, efficiency, downtime, and labor utilization; recommend corrective actions as needed. Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions. Champion continuous improvement initiatives related to process optimization, cost reduction, and operational effectiveness. Manage raw material usage and inventory controls to minimize waste and ensure traceability. Support capital projects and ERP/technology implementation efforts as needed.Requirements:
Requirements:
5+ years of progressive experience in food, beverage, or ingredient manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong understanding of food safety and quality standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC). Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with changing priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
