Job Description

Company DescriptionTyler Union is looking to hire a Foundry Operations Manager for the main manufacturing facility at Anniston, AL. The Foundry Operations Manager is responsible for providing hands-on leadership while managing aspects of foundry operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. This role oversees daily manufacturing activities that may include molding, core making, and finishing as necessary, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. The Foundry Operations Manager drives continuous improvement, optimizes labor and equipment utilization, controls costs, and develops a skilled and engaged workforce to meet production, quality, and delivery goals. The Foundry Operations Manager helps advance a proactive, solution-oriented culture aligned with The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.

Job DescriptionJob Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)Operations & Production ManagementLead and manage department managers within the foundry operations, including molding, core making, pouring, and finishing, as assigned.

Establish foundry goals and objectives; monitor and evaluate operating performance; provide direction, judgment, leadership, and technical expertise to maximize efficiencyEnsure production schedules are met while maintaining quality, safety, and cost targetsMonitor production metrics such as throughput, yield, scrap, rework, and on time deliveryCoordinate with planning to ensure material availability and efficient workflowTroubleshoot production and process issues to minimize downtime and disruptionsQuality ManagementEnsure compliance with quality standards, customer specifications, and internal proceduresWork closely with Quality to reduce scrap, defects, and customer returnsSupport root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actionsEnsure proper documentation, process control, and adherence to ISO or customer requirementsCross-Functional SupportWork with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure equipment uptime and reliabilityParticipate in capital planning, equipment repairs, upgrades, and new installationsManage departmental budget as well as control labor, materials, energy, and consumable costsIdentify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising safety or quality.

Evaluate new technology and how it can be applied to enhance the operationAttend trade shows and other events to promote capacity and capabilities of the facilityPeople Leadership & Workforce DevelopmentDirectly manage managers, supervisors, leads, and production teams across shiftsHire, train, coach, and develop employees to build a skilled, accountable workforceManage labor planning, scheduling, and performance evaluationsFoster employee engagement, teamwork, and adherence to company values QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Bachelor's degree preferably in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.3-5 years of experience leading teams in a foundry (metals, castings, machined components, or similar).Understanding of electric melt, preferred.
