Steel City Refractories Position Summary We are seeking a results-driven Plant Manager to oversee all operations at our refractory manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for managing production, quality, safety, maintenance, and personnel to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of refractory products. The Plant Manager will lead continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining high standards in safety, product quality, and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily plant operations including batching, mixing, forming, curing, and finishing of refractory materials Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency standards Lead, supervise, and develop plant staff including supervisors, operators, and laborers Enforce and maintain a strong safety culture in compliance with OSHA and company policies Monitor and improve quality control processes to meet customer and industry specifications Manage inventory of raw materials and finished goods to support production needs Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability Develop and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency Collaborate with sales, engineering, and leadership teams to meet customer demands and deadlines Manage plant budget, including labor, materials, and operating expenses Qualifications 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership (plant manager, production manager, or similar role) Experience in refractory, cement, precast, or heavy industrial materials preferred Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, and plant operations Proven leadership and team management skills Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and industrial safety practices Ability to analyze data and drive process improvements Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production/ERP systems Preferred Qualifications Experience with refractory mixes, castables, or high-temperature materials Work Environment Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, dust, and heavy equipment Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting
