The role partners closely with the shop foreman and scheduler to ensure machined components arrive on time to support assembly. While other functions (purchasing, planning, quality) execute their own processes, the Assembly Supervisor owns the outcome and holds partners accountable when gaps emerge. Responsibilities Assign work to the assembly team at the start of the 6:00AM shift start; adjust throughout the day as priorities shift. Monitor real-time throughput against schedule; identify and remove bottlenecks (material, tooling, training, sequencing) during the shift to drive direct labor efficiency. Review, adjust, and approve employee clock-in/out times to ensure accurate labor records. Train and certify assembly employees on various operations; maintain a skills matrix and drive cross-training. Conduct one-on-ones, performance reviews, time-off approvals, and disciplinary action in partnership with HR. Coordinate daily with the shop foreman and scheduler to ensure machined components are completed in time to support assembly. Respond to sales order changes — reprioritize, adjust job status, and communicate impact to planning and sales. Report daily and weekly on schedule attainment, throughput, and open jobs. Accurately report labor, job operations, material issues, and quantities completed in ERP. Run material balance checks and issue low-inventory notices to purchasing/planning before shortages impact production. Escalate cross-functional issues (material shortages, machining delays, quality holds) to the Operations Manager when in-line resolution is not possible to protect schedule and customer commitments.
