Job Description
What to Expect Reporting to the Tool Room Manager, this role leads a team of tool and die specialists in our tool and die shop, overseeing daily operations, allocating tasks, and ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate completion of repairs and projects. The position involves analyzing performance gaps, developing training programs, and fostering skill development to enhance team capabilities, while collaborating cross-functionally with teams like DCMs and Trim Presses to ensure timely and quality execution. Responsibilities include managing shop needs such as tool procurement, driving continuous improvements, and empowering team members to contribute to process enhancements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a commitment to maintaining world-class die casting standards by building on the current track record of excellence. What You'll Do Oversee daily tool and die shop operations, assign tasks, ensure safety, accuracy, and efficiency while maintaining team morale and meeting deadlines Manage shop needs (tools, improvements) and empower team members to drive continuous enhancements Resolve production tooling issues swiftly and collaborate with cross-functional teams for timely, safe execution Identify performance gaps, deliver training, and ensure specialists maintain up-to-date skills and certifications Administer

tickets, update work instructions/checklists, and maintain accurate documentation Coordinate with engineering teams, manage timecards, vacations, and ensure proper tool maintenance Lead 5S initiatives, safety improvements, and foster a productive, streamlined work environment What You'll Bring Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail, plus a bachelor's degree in engineering or Journeyman certification Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, 3D dimensional reports (e.g., CMM, 3D scans), and experienced in machining, metal processing, or plastic injection molding Extensive experience in aluminum high-pressure die casting (5-10 years), including production, die maintenance, and structural aluminum components for automotive applications Deep expertise in steel/aluminum metallurgy, molds, HPDC dies, and manufacturing processes (casting, forging, CNC machining) Proactive leadership experience managing teams, projects, and safe, collaborative work environments, with a focus on team engagement and accountability Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks under pressure, and thrive in dynamic, high-stakes production settings Fluency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and a proactive mindset to drive initiative and solve complex challenges Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $100,800 - $151,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
