This role is responsible for receiving, grading, and production while ensuring strict employee adherence to union regulations and all environmental health and safety (EHS) standards. This is a full-time on-site, second shift position (3:00pm-12:00am, M-F). Duties and responsibilities Receives and grades inbound material according to quality classification for all yard inbound material. Completes all sorting for inbound load grading across industrial, dealer, utility, and demolition segments. Identifies grading discrepancies between Alpert and suppliers, collaborating with Buyers to resolve issues through settlement. Ensures materials are sorted and processed to company standards. Trains production and sorting teams on best practices, all supervised tasks, and adapting protocols to shifting commercial dynamics. Completes sorting, baling, shearing, and torching production according to work instructions set by Senior Receiving Supervisor. Inspects Work In Progress (WIP) and finished products. Manages Recy WIP sorting to enter accurate weights and quality grading into Recy Enforces safety regulations and communicates company policies to employees. Controls the detection, separation, and disposition of non-compliant materials (e.g., hazardous materials, radioactive substances, carcinogens, non-metallics) and reports hazardous items to the Senior Receiving Supervisor and Operations Manager. Maintains strict material quality control to ensure compliance with customer specifications. Recommends improved production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and yard efficiency. Analyzes and resolves receiving issues, assisting employees with problem-solving. Acts as backup to Operations Manager, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Familiarity with source of metal (industrial, demolition, brokerage) and characteristics and tendencies of each type Experience with truck and platform scales, weight verification, and ticket accuracy Understanding of purchase documentation Ability to coordinate unloading and yard organization Ability to lead a team and build collaborative team working environment Excellent multi-tasking ability to manage various tasks at once Working conditions May perform work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must wear appropriate PPE. Physical requirements Must be able to lift heavy loads on an occasional basis. May need to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods. Second Shift - 3:00pm-12:00am M-F
