Role Overview Bertrandt is seeking an experienced ADAS Workshop Foreman to manage day-to-day operations within a vehicle integration and troubleshooting workshop environment.
This role focuses on:
Coordinating prototype vehicle build-ups and system updates Leading troubleshooting of series-related rest of vehicle (ROV) vehicle issues Assigning and supervising work for technicians Acting as a key interface between customers, internal engineering teams, and workshop staff The position is execution- and coordination-focused, ensuring efficient workshop operations, high-quality technical output, and alignment with customer expectations—without travel requirements. Key Responsibilities Workshop Operations & Task Coordination Plan, prioritize, and assign daily tasks to technicians based on project needs and deadlines Monitor execution of vehicle build-ups, retrofits, and system updates Ensure efficient workflow and resource utilization within the workshop Track progress and ensure timely completion of assigned activities Oversee build-up and commissioning of ADAS prototype and pre-series vehicles Coordinate installation, updates, and modifications of ADAS components (ECUs, sensors, wiring) Support troubleshooting of ROV (Rest of Vehicle) issues affecting ADAS functionality Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance Guide technicians in systematic diagnosis of hardware and basic software issues Carry out complex troubleshooting if necessary Review findings and ensure structured documentation of issues and fixes Escalate complex technical issues to engineering teams when required Ensure adherence to defined processes, standards, and quality requirements Customer & Stakeholder Communication Act as primary workshop point of contact for customers and project stakeholders Provide status updates on vehicle readiness, issues, and timelines Aligning workshop priorities with internal engineering teams, project management, and customers Support coordination with suppliers when needed Workshop & Equipment Management Manage workshop infrastructure, tools, and diagnostic equipment Ensure availability and readiness of hardware, components, and consumables Oversee proper handling, maintenance, and calibration of tools and test equipment Maintain organized, safe, and efficient working environment (5S principles) Coordinate with Safety/OSHA management within the company Coordinate with Workshop Manager regarding parts availability, storage and ordering of all needed parts Documentation & Process Compliance Ensure proper documentation of: Build configurations (together with HW Engineers) Issues and corrective actions Vehicle status updates Utilize issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) for task and defect tracking Follow internal procedures for change management and release processes
Requirements:
Qualifications Technical degree (Associate or Bachelor's) in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 10+ years hands-on automotive workshop or vehicle build experience, preferably with ADAS or E/E systems Mercedes-Benz specific experience or training Knowledge of ROV (rest of vehicle) related troubleshooting processes Experience working with prototype or pre-series vehicles Prior experience in a lead technician / foreman / shop lead role Strong hands-on knowledge of: Vehicle electrical systems and components, ADAS sensors (camera, radar, ultrasonic) and ECU replacement and basic diagnostics. Experience coordinating and guiding technicians in a workshop environment Ability to read wiring diagrams and basic vehicle network structures (CAN preferred) Soft Skills & Other Strong organizational and task management skills Good communication skills for customer and internal coordination Valid US driver's license Occasional support also on the weekends (if necessary) Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with ADAS development or integration environments Experience with diagnostic tools (e.g., CANoe, DTS Monaco or similar) Experience in OEM or Tier 1 automotive environments Basic understanding of issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) German language skills
