This role is responsible for the direct supervision and development of front-line employees, ensuring daily production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and on time. The manager drives adherence to safety and quality standards, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures effective use of labor and resources. In collaboration with engineering, supply chain, and other value streams. The Value Stream Manager proactively addresses production challenges, optimizes workflow, and supports capital investment and maintenance planning to maximize operational capacity and output. Essential Duties
  • Manage and oversee all departments designated in the position description, ensuring production schedules are consistently met while maintaining a safe, organized, and clean working environment.
  • Performs regular Gemba walks and drives SQDIP and 5S performance across assigned departments and value streams
  • Ensure proper staffing levels, training, and performance management; address and resolve personnel issues including attendance, productivity, and behavior.
  • Monitor and adjust labor and resources to achieve production targets; identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the production process while maintaining equipment readiness.
  • Enforce all safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and company policies; foster a culture of safety and hold employees accountable for compliance.
  • Uphold Garmat quality standards by addressing production errors or defects promptly and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Respond quickly to issues that may disrupt production, including equipment malfunctions, staffing shortages, and safety concerns.
  • Ensure raw materials, tools, and supplies are readily available; collaborate with inventory teams to manage supply levels and prevent production delays.
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with production staff and leadership; provide regular updates on progress, employee performance, and operational challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement and advance Garmat's lean manufacturing initiatives; train and develop production team members in lean daily management practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered
  • 3•5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or operations, including supervision of production or technical teams.
  • Proven success supporting Lean, 5S, or process improvement initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, design, and test processes.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing systems and concepts
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems on the floor and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as necessary.

Manual Dexterity and Repetitive Motion:
Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and upper body movements and maintain fine motor control necessary for tool operation, equipment adjustments, and component handling throughout the work shift.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Reaching and Mobility:
Ability to reach overhead, above shoulder level, and below the waist; walk continuously; and regularly bend, stand, kneel, crouch, and stoop for extended periods.
Climbing and Elevated Work:
Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work at elevated heights while maintaining balance and stability.
Tool and Equipment Operation:
Ability to safely and proficiently operate small and large manual and powered tools required for assigned tasks.
Driving and Vehicle Operation:
Ability to operate a company vehicle for extended periods, including long-distance travel; must be able to sit for prolonged durations, safely navigate varying traffic and weather conditions, and load and unload tools and materials as required.
Environmental and Weather Exposure:
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate exposure to industrial noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and other industrial conditions.
Use of PPE:
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, steel or composite toe footwear, hard hats, respirators, or hearing protection for extended periods.
Hearing:
Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, warning signals, and equipment alarms in an industrial environment with varying noise levels.
Vision:
Ability to maintain close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment necessary to safely operate equipment and inspect materials. Candidates should be prepared to work in a physically demanding environment and possess the stamina and strength necessary to perform these tasks safely and effectively.
