Job Title:
Shift Supervisor Job Description The Steel Erection Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all steel erection activities during their assigned shift on commercial, industrial, and heavy construction projects. This position leads field crews, coordinates daily work activities, enforces safety requirements, ensures quality workmanship, and maintains production schedules. The Shift Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact between field personnel, project management, and subcontractors during their shift. Responsibilities Supervise and direct ironworkers, connectors, welders, crane operators, and rigging crews during steel erection activities. Review construction drawings, erection plans, and project specifications to ensure proper installation of structural steel components. Coordinate daily work plans and assign tasks to field personnel. Ensure steel members, joists, decking, stairs, and miscellaneous metals are installed according to project requirements. Monitor crew productivity and adjust manpower as necessary to meet project schedules. Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning sessions. Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety requirements. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings, erection drawings, and shop drawings. Thorough understanding of steel erection methods, rigging practices, and crane operations. Knowledge of bolted and welded structural connections. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and fall protection requirements. Ability to lead crews in a fast-paced construction environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with daily reporting and basic computer applications. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
