Production Supervisor Job Description The Production Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations within the wood fabrication and finishing department. This position is responsible for ensuring production performance, safety compliance, quality standards, and effective team leadership for wood components. The supervisor focuses on driving operational efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment, leading a team of 10-12 skilled operators. Responsibilities Lead and supervise daily wood processing operations, including CNC machining, cutting, sanding, assembly, and finishing, to meet production, quality, and cost targets. Plan production schedules, allocate labor, and manage workflow to ensure efficient throughput and on-time delivery. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization; take corrective action as needed. Lead, coach, and develop production employees while enforcing safety standards, PPE compliance, and standardized work practices. Ensure wood components meet dimensional, fit, finish, and durability specifications; partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve issues. Oversee finishing processes (stain, paint, laminate, coatings) to maintain consistency and product integrity. Coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and collaborate with Maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability. Drive lean manufacturing, cost reduction, material yield improvements, and sustainable manufacturing initiatives. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and production scheduling systems. Proven leadership and team development capabilities. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Demonstrated focus on quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of hardwoods, MDF, particle board, laminates, and wood finishing systems is a huge plus. Why Work Here? Working conditions are generally comfortable during the winter months and can become warm in the summer; multiple high-capacity fans are used to provide airflow. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Wilmington, DE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
