Job Description

Fabrication Lead Pay Rate:
$30/hr
Job Summary:
The Fabrication Lead is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication operations, supporting production goals, and ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency within the shop. This role provides leadership, guidance, and hands-on support to fitters and welders while maintaining workflow and production schedules.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a fabrication or steel manufacturing team Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, layout, and material handling Experience operating CNC fabrication equipment preferred Familiarity with safety, quality, and cost control standards Experience with fabrication management software such as Tekla EPM/GO is a plus Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekends as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily fabrication activities to meet production schedules and deadlines Supervise fitters and welders while enforcing safety and quality standards Assign daily tasks and balance workloads to maximize productivity Assist team members with fabrication, welding, layout, and drawing-related issues Communicate production updates, schedule changes, and operational concerns with leadership Identify and report issues related to safety, quality, materials, equipment, or workflow Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment remains operational Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment Train, mentor, and support employee development Assist with employee evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions as needed Work with Quality Control to ensure fabrication standards and inspections are met Support continuous improvement efforts within fabrication operations Perform additional duties as assigned
