Job Description
Job Title Roadwork Foreman - Sign & Post Installation Reports to Production Manager / Project Manager Classification Hourly; Non- Exempt Job Purpose Provide field leadership and oversight for roadway sign and post installation projects by supervising crews, coordinating daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety and MUTCD standards, and maintaining productivity, quality, and efficient work-zone operations. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and lead roadway labor crews performing sign and post installations. Plan, coordinate through detailed mapping (using Maps/Google Earth and Excel documentation) and assign daily work activities, materials, and equipment. Read and interpret site plans, traffic control plans, and project specifications. Ensure proper installation of roadway signs, school zone signage, and traffic control devices in compliance with MUTCD standards. Coordinate traffic control setups, including cones, barricades, lane closures, and flagging operations. Conduct field measurements to verify sign placement, height, spacing, and alignment. Monitor job progress and ensure timely completion within project scope. Perform hands-on work, including digging, post setting, equipment operation, and installation as needed. Enforce safety procedures, PPE usage, and roadway safety practices. Conduct daily safety meetings or toolbox talks. Communicate project status, updates, and field conditions to management. Maintain daily reports including labor, materials, equipment usage, and site conditions. Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance. Coordinate equipment maintenance and report repair needs. Assist with warehouse duties when not in the field. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Lead and supervise field laborers, installers, and subcontractors. Train employees in installation methods, safety procedures, and equipment use. Promote accountability, productivity, and teamwork. Utilize a laptop/smartphone for reporting, communication, and project tracking. Qualifications and Requirements 1+ years of roadway construction, traffic control, sign installation, or related experience preferred. Previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of MUTCD guidelines and roadway safety practices. Ability to read plans, layouts, and measurements accurately. Experience operating equipment such as augers, post drivers, trailers, forklifts, and utility vehicles preferred. Valid driver's license required. Knowledge of proper material handling and load safety. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Bilingual (preferred but not required). Preferred Certifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Traffic Control / Work Zone Safety Certification Equipment operation certifications Forklift certification Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry 50-100+ lbs. Frequently standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Travel to multiple job sites across Florida, including extended project durations (3-4 weeks). Working Conditions This position operates primarily outdoors in roadway and construction environments. Work is performed near active traffic and in varying weather conditions. Requires early mornings, nights, overtime, and weekend work depending on project needs.
