Position Overview We are looking for a rare "dual-threat" leader—someone who possesses hands-on CNC technical expertise alongside strong business administration and leadership skills. In this role, you will bridge the gap between the front office and the shop floor. You will be entirely responsible for the production lifecycle: from creating CAD drawings and estimating custom orders, to raw material procurement, scheduling work orders, overseeing CNC maintenance, and ensuring flawless Quality Control. This is an autonomous position ideal for an entrepreneurial-minded manager who thrives on variety and wants to run a high-performance manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities 1.

Engineering & Technical Design CAD/CAM Design:

Create, modify, and optimize 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks, MasterCam, Fusion 360) for our standard lineup and custom orders.

Job Estimating:

Review customer requests, analyze material and labor requirements, and generate accurate cost and time estimates for new production runs.

Technical Communication:

Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers regarding custom orders and translating their specifications into production-ready designs. 2.

Production Control & Shop Operations Workflow Management:

Schedule and assign work orders and tracking progress through completion.

Backorder & Inventory Control:

Actively manage and prioritize the backorder list to ensure timely delivery to customers.

Corporate Liaison:

Serve as the main communication link between the machining department and the office staff. 3. Quality Assurance (QA/QC) First Article Inspection (FAI): Conduct detailed FAIs on new setups or product lines to guarantee accuracy before full production runs.

Strict Quality Control:

Maintain an uncompromising QC standard across all stages of production, ensuring exact tolerances and premium cosmetic finishes. 4.

Supply Chain & Vendor Relations Procurement:

Order raw material and track metal market pricing to optimize purchasing.

Consumables Management:

Monitor and order shop consumables (tooling, inserts, coolants, oils) to eliminate production downtime.

Outside Vendors:

Manage relationships and coordinate logistics with external vendors. 5.

Equipment Maintenance & Asset Management Preventative Maintenance:

Take full ownership of the shop's CNC machinery, developing and executing strict daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules.

Troubleshooting:

Diagnose machine issues, perform basic repairs, and coordinate with external technicians for major equipment service when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience Experience:

Minimum of 5-7 years in a machine shop environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory, lead, or management role.

Stainless Steel Expertise:

Experience machining and tooling various grades of stainless steel.

Software Proficiency:

High proficiency with industry-standard CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam).

Technical Skills:

Expert understanding of CNC programming, setup, and operation. Deep knowledge of machine tool selection and speeds/feeds.

Inspection Skills:

Highly proficient with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges) and executing First Article Inspections.

Leadership Traits:

Self-motivated, highly organized, and an excellent verbal and written communicator who can seamlessly switch from client-facing emails to shop-floor troubleshooting. Machinery & Equipment on Site Our clean, temperature-controlled facility runs a dedicated lineup of high-precision CNC equipment. You will have direct operational and maintenance oversight of:

(Mitsubishi): Prior experience running these specific Swiss machines is highly valued but not required . However, a willingness and ability to learn to program, operate, and troubleshoot is mandatory, and we will provide the training to get you there. Benefits Starting salary will depend on your skill set. 50/50 Health Reimbursement Arrangement. You pick a plan, we pay 50%. 401(k) matching.

Standard 6 + additional 10 days.
