Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Storefront Lead Fabricator to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in overseeing the fabrication of high-quality storefronts, architectural features, and custom metalwork for commercial projects. As a leader in the shop, you will combine your mechanical expertise, welding proficiency, and fabrication knowledge to deliver exceptional craftsmanship that meets project specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities Lead the fabrication of storefronts, curtain walls, and architectural metal components in accordance with detailed blueprints and technical drawings. Operate and set up various power tools, press brake machines, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment to shape sheet metal and metal materials precisely. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of components. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to verify dimensions and ensure quality control throughout the manufacturing process. Perform welding tasks including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW (flux-cored arc welding), SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), adhering to AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes where applicable. Oversee rigging, pipe threading, ductwork fabrication, and assembly of metal parts while maintaining strict safety protocol adherence on the shop floor. Manage fabrication shop operations efficiently by coordinating with team members, ensuring timely completion of projects, and maintaining a safe work environment. Qualifications Proven construction site experience with a strong background in metal fabrication and mechanical assembly. Demonstrated expertise in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, with knowledge of AWS standards. Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints accurately. Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools for quality assurance. Experience operating power tools like press brakes, plasma cutters, pipe threading machines, and sheet metal shears. Mechanical knowledge related to fabricating storefronts or architectural metalwork; familiarity with ASME codes is a plus. Ability to interpret shop math for measurements and calculations essential for fabrication tasks. Strong understanding of safety protocols related to welding, rigging, machining, and general shop operations. Valid construction or manufacturing experience with a focus on metal materials such as steel or aluminum; forklift certification is preferred but not required.
