Production Control Supervisor About the Opportunity A well-established global manufacturing organization is seeking a Production Control Supervisor to support production planning, inventory management, logistics coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials, manpower, and production resources are aligned to meet customer demand while supporting Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing principles. The successful candidate will lead inventory control activities, coordinate production schedules, drive process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and manpower resources. Partner with production leadership to optimize resource utilization and support operational objectives. Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Manage and oversee cycle count programs, inventory audits, and variance investigations. Analyze inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Support physical inventory administration, reporting, and continuous improvement activities. Coordinate raw material replenishment strategies with domestic and international suppliers. Develop short-term and long-term production plans to support customer shipment requirements. Maintain and update bills of materials, part master data, and inventory control systems. Coordinate packaging requirements based on customer specifications. Utilize MRP and inventory management systems to support planning and inventory accuracy. Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including TPS, JIT, 5S, Kaizen, and standardization activities. Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements. Lead and support departmental goals, projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for production control and inventory management activities. Manage projects from planning through implementation with minimal supervision. Apply independent judgment to resolve operational challenges and improve processes. Contribute to department budgeting, scheduling, and strategic planning efforts. Foster teamwork, engagement, and positive associate morale. Lead departmental continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of accountability and operational excellence. Support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale objectives throughout the organization.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 3 years of production control, production planning, inventory control, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment 5+ years of directly related manufacturing experience. Experience with inventory management and MRP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
5+ years of progressive manufacturing, production planning, or supply chain experience. Experience leading projects and cross-functional initiatives. Knowledge of TPS, Lean Manufacturing, JIT, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with AS400, Power Link, ITEMS, or similar ERP systems. Experience designing or implementing cycle count programs and inventory control processes. Why Join Us?
