Production Supervisor Job Description The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within the molding department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role leads a team of operators and technicians, maintains adherence to production schedules and quality standards, and enforces company policies while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Oversee daily production activities in the molding department to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent operations. Lead, direct, and support a team of operators and technicians, providing clear guidance, coaching, and performance feedback. Ensure production output meets established schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements. Monitor machinery and equipment performance, coordinating with team members to address issues that may impact productivity or quality. Review and interpret blueprints and production documentation to guide manufacturing and assembly processes. Promote and enforce adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout the department. Support and implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve workflow, and optimize efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee and coordinate work in machining, assembly, or paint operations as needed to support overall production goals. Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, downtime, and quality metrics. Identify skill gaps within the team and support ongoing training and development to enhance performance and versatility. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the production area. Essential Skills At least 5+ years of experience in manufacturing. At least 2+ years of lead or supervisor experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience in production and machine operation. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to guide manufacturing and assembly work. Experience in assembly or assembly production environments. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and their practical application on the shop floor. Strong supervisory and team leadership skills, including coaching and performance management. Effective communication skills, including the ability to work with bilingual team members. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining quality and safety standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in machining, assembly, or paint operations is preferred. Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus. Bilingual communication skills are beneficial for supporting a diverse workforce. Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement and process optimization. Comfort working with traditional manufacturing tools, equipment, and documentation. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a traditional manufacturing environment within the molding department. The facility is non-climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The area can be very noisy when machines are operating, and employees should be comfortable working around running production equipment and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
