Job Title:
Production Supervisor Job Description This role oversees a defined production area within a corrugated manufacturing facility, driving key performance indicators and ensuring the department operates at peak effectiveness. The Production Supervisor actively leads on the floor, coordinates people and resources, and uses data and reports to optimize production. This position combines hands-on involvement with strong leadership, reporting, and process improvement responsibilities on a third-shift schedule. Responsibilities Lead and supervise approximately 20 production team members within a designated area of the corrugated manufacturing facility. Drive department key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure the production area operates at peak effectiveness. Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, leading by example and providing day-to-day guidance and support. Review and interpret production reports to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure team members are in the right place at the right time to optimize production flow and resource utilization. Prepare and deliver accurate shift reports for the leadership team, summarizing performance, issues, and actions taken. Monitor production goals and ensure the team consistently meets established targets and standards. Step in to perform production tasks when necessary, including operating machinery, driving a forklift, and assisting with hands-on work to maintain throughput. Promote and support safety initiatives on the production floor, reinforcing safe work practices and compliance with safety procedures. Identify and implement process improvements within the department to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance. Use Microsoft Office applications to track performance, document activities, and communicate with leadership and other departments. Coordinate with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of operations. Essential Skills 3-5 years of production supervision experience in a manufacturing environment. Proven experience improving standards and performance within a production department. Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead, coach, and hold a team accountable. Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on leading by example on the production floor. Experience in process improvement within a manufacturing or production setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (such as Excel, Word, and Outlook) for reporting and communication. Ability to interpret and act on production reports and key performance indicators. Capability and willingness to perform hands-on production tasks, including operating equipment and driving a forklift, when needed. Availability to work third shift (10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday). Additional Skills & Qualifications Corrugated manufacturing or corrugated box production experience. Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment. Familiarity with safety initiatives and programs in an industrial setting. Work Environment The role is based in a corrugated box manufacturing facility with a hands-on production environment. You will work primarily on the production floor, where machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment are in regular use. The position follows a third-shift schedule, typically 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The role is structured as an hourly position rather than a salaried role. The environment emphasizes safety, operational efficiency, and teamwork, with frequent interaction between supervisors and production staff throughout the shift.
