Protecting People. " We are seeking a 2 nd Shift Production Supervisor to partner with our experienced production team in this environmentally focused industry. A 2 nd Shift Production Supervisor at Smith and Loveless is responsible for supervising and coordinating second-shift production to ensure high-quality, efficient manufacturing. Shift hours are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am. Delegate duties and provide follow-up and assistance for effective control. Ensure efficient and timely processes of the Company product to meet the production schedules. Ensure adherence to specifications/standards by properly directing and supervising work in progress. Coordinate with Engineering and other internal departments to ensure proper interpretation of plans and specifications to provide proper fabrication functions and to troubleshoot problems as they occur. Responsible for the proper administration of the Union Contract to ensure equitable and harmonious union management relations and handle step 1 grievances as needed. Ensure safe work area and adherence to safe work practices by initiating corrective preventative measures. Inspect all finished work to ensure they meet specifications before closing the job out. Develop efficient production methods and suggest new or improved equipment to lower cost and enhance product operating efficiency. Other duties as assigned by Plant Superintendent. Keep work area neat and clean. Skills/Requirements High School Diploma or GED equivalent 5 years in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing/production operation . Must be able to effectively supervise hourly union employees. Ability to establish priorities, delegate duties, and read and understand blueprints. Must have a mechanical aptitude, knowledge of Windows based PC, basic math skills including geometry and conflict resolution skills. Foreman/Production Supervisors are expected to show up an hour before the shift to prepare. Overtime may be required as necessary.
