Position Overview The Quality Inspection Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all quality inspection activities supporting the construction of aluminum surface vessels in accordance with contract requirements, engineering specifications, and the company's Quality Management System (QMS). This position provides technical leadership to Quality Inspectors across multiple disciplines, ensuring consistent application of inspection processes, workmanship standards, and regulatory compliance throughout vessel construction. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise Quality Inspectors assigned to Receiving Inspection, Structural/Welding, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, Outfitting, Coatings, and Final Acceptance inspections. Provide daily directions, coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to inspection personnel. Plan and prioritize inspection activities to support production schedules and vessel delivery milestones. Evaluate inspector performance and identify training and development opportunities. Oversee receiving, in-process, final, and acceptance inspections throughout vessel construction. Verify compliance with welding, fabrication, dimensional, electrical, piping, machinery, outfitting, and coating requirements. Support first article inspections, critical hold points, witness inspections, and final vessel acceptance activities Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Strong working knowledge of:
ABS Rules and classification requirements USCG marine regulations Marine construction methods and shipyard manufacturing processes Aluminum fabrication Welding inspection and workmanship standards Mechanical, piping, electrical, and outfitting systems Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards. Proficiency with quality management systems, inspection documentation, and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced shipyard environment while managing multiple priorities. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Occasional standing and walking within the office Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
