Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as an Assistant Production Manager, where your leadership and technical expertise will drive operational excellence and continuous improvement. In this pivotal role, you will support the production management team in overseeing daily manufacturing activities, ensuring seamless operations, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Your proactive approach will help optimize production processes, enhance supply chain efficiency, and foster a culture of lean manufacturing principles. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment that values innovation, teamwork, and operational mastery. The is responsible for carrying out the request of the Production Manager, managing line supervisors and personnel. Their duties include constant monitoring of daily production, personnel, and all regulatory compliance issues. The is responsible for following GMPs and will report to the Production Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Monitors daily production runs line supervisors and line personnel.
  • Support line supervisors on changeovers as needed.
  • Works with supervisors to develop skills in mechanical and personnel development.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the department and general management skills to run the department in the absence of the production manager on a temporary basis.
  • Report task progress and delays to the manager periodically during the day.
  • Enforcing GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, SOP, SSOP, SQF, FDA and required regulatory agencies.
  • Assure all machinery is maintained and is being run in the most efficient manner.
  • Notify the Manager when raw materials inventory gets low.
  • Verify that work areas are kept clean and assure proper sanitation procedures are carried out.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and adjust accordingly.
  • Assist in training line workers in all positions possible to run efficiently.
  • Assure sauce formulas are turned in daily.
  • Coordinate absence, tardy, days off and vacations on department calendar and with Human Resources.
  • Ensure all regulatory documentation is filled out and turned in as required.
  • Review required documentation for accuracy.
  • Assist in plant inventory.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to work and think independently when necessary.
  • Must be able to resolve issues related to line personnel and production.
  • Must be able interpret and communicate clear and precise directions to others.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic.
  • Work with others in a team building setting.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a changing work environment.
  • Maintain safe work area.
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in supervision or management preferred/required.
  • On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting 50lbs max occasionally.
  • Standing and sitting for periods of time.
  • Walking regularly.
Qualifications Proven experience in production management within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Knowledge of quality control procedures and safety standards applicable to manufacturing plants. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
