Field Welding Foreman Job Description We are seeking an experienced Field Welding Foreman to lead on-site welding and fabrication projects for a growing contractor based out of York, PA. This hands-on leadership role requires strong technical welding skills, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to effectively manage and motivate small crews in the field. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in field welding, fabrication, and construction, along with a proven ability to plan work, maintain safety standards, and deliver high-quality results on schedule. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a crew of 1-4 welders/fabricators on active job sites. Perform hands-on STICK and MIG welding in field environments. Fabricate and install miscellaneous metals per drawings and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols. Plan daily work activities, material needs, and manpower requirements. Ensure compliance with jobsite safety standards and company policies. Operate and oversee the use of power tools, welding equipment, and Pettibone lifts. Maintain strong communication with project managers, supervisors, and customers. Start on smaller, basic projects with growth into more complex scopes as performance is demonstrated. Essential Skills 5+ years of field welding and fabrication experience. Foreman Level Proficiency in STICK and MIG welding. Strong experience with miscellaneous metals (handrails, stairs, frames, etc.). Ability to layout material from blueprints and understand welding symbols. Prior experience operating Pettibone lifts. Working knowledge of power tools and jobsite safety practices. Proven leadership ability with a disciplined, detail-oriented approach. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills. Customer-focused mindset with professional communication skills. Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and performing field-based work. Must have a Valid Driver's license Additional Preferred Skills & Qualifications Previous foreman or lead welder experience. Experience coordinating with general contractors and inspectors. OSHA safety training or certifications.
AWS D1.1-2020
Structural Welding Code-Steel certification. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
