This role is responsible for coordinating production plans that align with demand forecasts, material availability, and capacity constraints—all within a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, has a deep understanding of MRP planning, and is highly skilled in managing complex, multi-level Bills of Material (BOMs) with 50 or more components.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead daily planning coordination with operations, purchasing, logistics, and shop floor teams to ensure timely delivery of finished goods. Provide direct supervision and guidance to a small team of buyer-planners supporting production readiness. Develop and maintain an effective master production schedule that balances customer requirements with inventory and capacity constraints. Monitor and analyze capacity; flag and address potential risks or limitations in production throughput. Generate and release work orders using MRP and kanban signals to drive material flow and execution. Interface regularly with engineering, quality, and warehouse personnel to resolve material issues and production bottlenecks. Track production output against plan; implement corrective actions as needed to meet schedule commitments. Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to planning processes, tools, and inventory control. Support new product launches by planning material and capacity needs for pilot builds and early production runs. Conduct basic purchasing functions, including obtaining supplier quotes, issuing POs, and managing delivery commitments aligned with the schedule. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and ensure accurate closure of work orders.
Required Qualifications:
5-10 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high-mix or engineered-to-order operations. Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-level Bills of Material (BOMs) with 50+ unique parts per assembly. Bachelor's degree preferred; APICS or similar certification strongly desired. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Oracle Cloud or similar experience preferred). Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Office Suite. Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and kanban systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage shifting priorities with confidence.
