Job Description:
Lead and execute nightly pressroom operations in the production of print publications, balancing cost efficiency with the highest achievable quality standards. Ensure customer expectations for reproduction quality and productivity are consistently met while managing material consumption responsibly. Drive results through best-practice performance standards, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic staff development.
Responsibilities:
Advance business unit financial and operational objectives through disciplined daily oversight of pressroom activities Provide strong leadership by ensuring staff adhere to established processes, maintaining efficient staffing plans, and fostering ongoing skill development Direct and participate in press operations with a continuous focus on improving the Production Quality Score across key metrics, including reproduction quality, productivity, and materials cost management Cultivate a culture of open communication, clearly articulating departmental goals and expectations to all team members Administer local labor agreements and company policies in close collaboration with production management Deliver consistent training and development opportunities to ensure all employees are proficient in relevant job functions, procedures, and equipment operation Assess equipment and materials on an ongoing basis to identify improvement opportunities aligned with department-wide continuous improvement initiatives Champion and actively contribute to the development of an inclusive and diverse work environment Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely operational and maintenance records Partner with production managers and staff to establish and prioritize equipment maintenance schedules
Qualifications:
Strong leadership, initiative, and decision-making ability, with strong interpersonal skills and a results-driven, customer-focused mindset Minimum of five years of experience in a production environment; cold web offset newspaper printing experience strongly preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Proficiency in standard business software applications, including spreadsheet and word processing programs Extensive technical knowledge of offset printing techniques, equipment, and industry-best practices, supported by solid mechanical aptitude This position is located in Taunton, MA. The annual salary for this role is $90,000 - $100,000. It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
