Job Title:
Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift Job Description The Production Supervisor oversees a small 2nd-shift team in an industrial environment, ensuring production goals and key performance indicators are consistently met. This working supervisor role combines hands-on operational duties, such as operating forklifts and using RF scanners, with leadership responsibilities to keep the team on pace and maintain accurate inventory records. Responsibilities Supervise and lead a team of 2-3 production employees on 2nd shift, providing direction, support, and oversight throughout the shift. Monitor and maintain production pace to meet established key performance indicators (KPIs) per labor hour. Act as a working supervisor by actively participating in daily operations while managing team performance and workflow. Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to load trucks and move materials as needed. Use RF scanners to accurately record, track, and drop orders into the computer system. Work with Excel and other computer tools to update records, track inventory, and support reporting needs. Oversee inventory management activities, helping ensure stock accuracy and proper product rotation. Coordinate tasks and communicate expectations clearly to team members to maintain productivity and quality standards. Support a clean, organized, and safe work area in both standard industrial and freezer environments. Adapt to changing priorities during the shift and help resolve operational issues as they arise. Essential Skills At least 2 years of leadership experience managing a small team in a production, warehouse, or similar environment. Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or warehouse setting. Hands-on experience with inventory management processes. Ability to use RF scanners for order processing and inventory tracking. Proficiency with Excel and general computer skills for data entry and basic reporting. Ability to work the 2nd shift schedule from 2:30 p.m. until shift completion. Comfort working in a freezer environment as needed. Strong communication skills to direct, coach, and coordinate a small team. Ability to maintain production pace and meet KPI targets under time pressure. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supervising production or warehouse teams of 2-3 employees or more. Experience in an industrial or distribution environment. Attention to detail when entering data into Excel and inventory systems. Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with RF scanners or computer-based systems. Strong organizational skills to balance hands-on work with supervisory responsibilities. Reliability and consistency in adhering to production schedules and shift hours. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in an industrial facility that includes both standard warehouse areas and a freezer environment. You will work on the 2nd shift from 2:30 p.m. until the work is finished, which may vary by day. The position is hands-on and physically active, involving regular forklift operation, use of RF scanners, and interaction with inventory in both ambient and cold storage areas. You should be comfortable wearing appropriate attire and protective gear suitable for industrial and freezer conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
