Production Supervisor Job Description The Production Supervisor oversees high-volume automotive production lines in a fast-paced, unionized environment, ensuring safety, quality, and delivery targets are consistently met This role leads and develops team leaders and production staff, drives continuous improvement, and coordinates closely with support functions to resolve issues and optimize performance Job Responsibilities Supervise, lead, coach, and direct team leaders and production employees to achieve production volume, cost, quality, and delivery targets Manage daily production activities on the line, ensuring adherence to schedules and on-time delivery within a semi-just-in-time environment Monitor and manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to leadership Plan and manage headcount to cover absences, holidays, training, workshops, and other staffing needs Complete the Attendance Register daily to maintain accurate attendance records Perform daily ADP data entry, including approving employee time and updating employee schedules Direct and conduct standardized work audits, ensuring that all team members follow Standardized Work procedures Work with team leaders to schedule operator rotations to balance workload and maintain flexibility on the line Liaise with maintenance, health, safety and environment (HSE), quality, and other support functions to resolve build issues and prevent recurrence. Oversee and coordinate rework activities when required, ensuring quality standards are maintained Manage the closure of line QRCIs and coach team leaders to react to issues quickly and resolve them independently Essential Skills Proven experience supervising production lines in an automotive manufacturing environment Strong experience in production supervision and production management within a fast-paced setting Experience working in a unionized environment, preferably with UAW-represented employees Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team leaders and production staff Solid understanding of safety standards and practices in a manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with continuous improvement initiatives and process improvement Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application on the production floor Familiarity with Six Sigma or similar structured problem-solving methodologies Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Detroit, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
