7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., plus mandatory overtime as needed General Description This position is responsible for leading a work center team to assemble an entire product or components of a product by following written assembly instructions and work orders. The major areas of responsibility include coordinating daily activities of the team, effectively communicating production expectations and working towards the highest standards of quality, efficiency, safety and housekeeping. Principle Responsibilities Coordinate and work in day-to-day activities of the work center. Work daily to improve metrics and manage work center priorities. Communicate objectives, and priorities to the team. Lead, coach and motivate the team to achieve production requirements. Facilitate team problem solving and decision-making. Ensure effective communication between team members. Train and develop team members. Adjust staffing and team assignments to achieve optimal flow and efficiency. Identify areas of inefficient operation and lead the implementation of continuous improvement processes. Perform daily tasks, including but not limited to; update PPM sheet, daily production board, inventory check list and labor hours, review production schedule, assemble shop packets, issue finished goods, submit carton pull and pick list and correct work center negatives. Manage employee performance. Recognize good performance. Effectively communicate work expectations to each employee. Administer employee reviews yearly and documented verbal and written communications if needed. Direct equipment repair, maintenance and general housekeeping of the work center. Participate in production and safety meetings. Lead work center in implementing meeting objectives. Ensure compliance of all Company and government regulatory safety standards. Be an effective team player. Interact and work cross-functionally with all MDI departments. Exemplify a professional work demeanor, upholding the Company Core Values, leading by example. All other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications/Skills Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to foster a positive work environment. Excellent attendance, dependable, on-time ready to work. Strong leadership, problem solving and teambuilding skills to direct work center team. Proficient in metrology and the use of various inspection devices to measure within 1/16th of an inch. Ability to set-up and operate all machinery within the work center. Education and Work Experience Manufacturing Degree or related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience. Experience in light assembly manufacturing environment with a good working knowledge of industry standards. Three plus years of supervisory experience preferred. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word). Physical Demands/Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and to use hands and arms to move parts. The employee is frequently required to walk and is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
