Group Leader#26-19136 $35.51-$39.94 per hour Lake Orion, MI Onsite Job Description Our client, a Automotive Manufacturing company, is looking for a Group Leader for their Lake Orion, MI location.
Responsibilities:
As a Group Leader, you are responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment. Participates in the training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members. Participates in the development of highly effective teams. Leads Global Manufacturing Systems(GMS) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas. Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements. Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management. Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between Client and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues. Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods. Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training). Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements. Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities., A team of hourly UAW employees Daily production execution (SQDC = Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) Driving lean manufacturing and continuous improvement Acting as the key bridge between union workforce and management Directly supervise 20-40 hourly UAW team members Train, coach, and develop employees Handle attendance, performance, discipline (per UAW contract) Build team culture and engagement
Requirements:
2 to 4 years of experience required. Directly leading people. Managers will be looking to see if they have worked in a UAW environment. UAW not required, but ideal. High School Diploma Direct Supervisory Experience- At least 2 years and working in a UAW environment. Ability that you follow a workflow and some sort of structure. Manufacturing / Operations Experience- Experience hitting production metrics (not just supporting). Automotive or similar (aerospace, heavy manufacturing, logistics). Understanding production flow, downtime, bottlenecks Problem-Solving Ability (Root Cause Mindset) & Accountability & Ownership Mindset
