Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTIONThis position contributes to the company's success by having a thorough understanding of Vertical Lathes. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAccountable for efficient and timely production of a quality finished productAware at all times of correct orientation of product being placed in machineLoads and unloads productMonitors and changes cutting tools (inserts) as neededPerforms basic dimensional inspection of product when requiredOperates equipment in constantly high production environmentStarts and stops cycle of equipment as needed, through use of push buttons and leversRemoves metal shavings/chips from equipment in a safe mannerNotify supervision of any adverse conditions that may affect quality of the finished productRough machine forgings to drawingsOther job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlinesKnowledge of operations of lathe machinesKnowledge of a machine shop in the steel industryEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent work experience1-3 years experience in related fieldPhysical RequirementsStanding, bending, sitting, lifting up to 50#, squatting, and walking for 8-10 hours per dayThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this jobReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functionsSafety RequirementsMust wear required personal protective equipment when in manufacturing areasTeam playerOrganized and dependableFlexible and adaptableAccurate and efficientAction orientedQuality Management System and IndoctrinationPlant required Safety TrainingNew Hire Orientation and New Hire Safety TrainingCustomer specified or supplied training, when requiredJob specific procedures, work instructions, forms, and processes (if applicable) and as needed per QMS revisions and update
