Job Title:
Manufacturing Engineer Job Description This global Tier 1 automotive supplier is seeking a Production Supervisor who will oversee a range of manufacturing engineering responsibilities, including managing production during off-shifts and collaborating with manufacturing leaders to enhance production floor performance. The role involves planning, scheduling, setting up, and running manufacturing activities, as well as leading the distribution of materials to meet daily production schedules. This hands-on position requires a strong leader with experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, ready to support manufacturing teams. ---2nd shift [2pm to 10pm] Hands-on production support, root cause analysis, and product disassembly, with 70%-80% of the time spent on the production floor. Typical workweek is 45 hours, with a slight possibility of extending to 50 hours during busy periods. The company is a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, providing exposure to assembly, machining, and welding processes, and opportunities for internal promotions. Responsibilities Maintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes and recommending improvements. Monitor progress and expedite material flow and work results while resolving problems. Improve manufacturing process workflow by eliminating stoppages, analyzing delays, and testing new methods. Record manufacturing production by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries. Ensure process flow by communicating production status, requirements, and issues to the next shift. Maintain a working relationship with the union by complying with collective bargaining agreements. Adhere to organization standards, policies, and legal regulations to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment. Contribute to manufacturing processes and organizational success. Oversee manufacturing outcomes by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates. Present job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job contributions, adhering to policies and procedures. Essential Skills Engineering Degree or strong leadership experience with cross-functional engineering work. 2+ years of engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment. General understanding of assembly or machining processes. Leadership or supervision experience. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Preference for working on the manufacturing floor rather than a desk job. Work Environment This role involves reporting to sr. management within a team of three engineers, part of a larger group of 35 individuals on a high volume automotive manufacturing floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Three Rivers, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr.
